Sustainable Mobilities in the Neighborhood: Methodological Innovation for Social Change

The German federal state of Baden-Wuerttemberg with its regional capital Stuttgart is a major field for the mobility transition in Europe. As one seven living labs state, MobiQ—Sustainable Mobility through Sharing Neighborhood follows civil society, non-commercial approach. Utilizing research design labs, and practice work hand to promote citizen participation co-designing co-producing neighborhood-based, developing shared solutions. spatial focus on three locations: A 10,500-inhabitant post-war settlement outskirts (Stuttgart-Rot), city-neighborhood about 6000 inhabitants (Geislingen an der Steige) rural municipality approximately 3000 (Waldburg). In this article, we propose how theoretical considerations sustainability transitions systems can be deployed ground. Through study, offer first-hand insights into lab experiences inspire scholars worldwide harness networks civic actors order contribute cultural change practice.
